The ritual

Care · Four steps Four minutes
01 / Trim
Trim the wick to 5mm

Always before lighting, always with clean scissors. A long wick burns hot, fast, and tall — and robs you of the scent

— before every burn
02 / Light
Burn for two hours, at least

The first time, wait until the wax has melted edge to edge. This sets the memory of the pool and prevents tunnelling

— on the first burn
03 / Rest
Let the wax settle, uncovered

Don't move the candle while the pool is liquid. Leave it somewhere still; the fragrance will continue to fill the room for an hour after

— after extinguishing
04 / Keep
When finished, keep the vessel

Warm water, a touch of soap. The ash cup is hand-turned and meant to outlive the candle — for pencils, matches, small flowers

— after the 52nd hour
